The Old Racecourse Hotel is a Visit Scotland 3 star rated hotel located in an elegant part of Ayr, in the South West of Scotland. The hotel boasts complimentary Wi-Fi, bar with real ales, a restaurant, it's own private gardens and provides ample private parking. A speedy, comfortable rail connection will take you to the centre of Glasgow, one of Britain's premier cities and a superb shopping and cultural centres. The Old Racecourse Hotel lies in the heart of Burn's country, being close to Burn's Cottage, the Monument, and the Auld Brig O'Doon, featured in his famous poem Tam O'Shanter. Ayr is a popular holiday resort as well as being a shopping and market centre. It is a very old town; there was a settlement here long before a Scottish King named William the Lion gave it a charter and protected it with a castle in 1200. Nothing is left of the castle, but there are still plenty to see. The name reveals that the racecourse was once at this side of town. The current facility is Scotland's premier horse racing venue, and plays host to the Scottish Grand National in April and the Scottish Gold Cup in September. The hotel is conveniently located for over 30 fine golf courses including Old Prestwick, which initiated the first ever Open in 1860, and Royal Troon and Turnberry - both of which still host golf's premier Championship every few years. Indeed, the Championship was at Royal Troon in July 2004, and will be held in Turnberry in July 2009.

From Glasgow - Head for Ayr on M77/A77 South. At Dutchhouse roundabout take left staying on A77. At Whitletts Roundabout take 2nd exit continuing on A77 South. At Holmston roundabout turn right. Take 1st road on left (Hillfoot Road). Continue on road until you come to a small roundabout. Go straight through. You are on Belmont Rd. Continue over level crossing to crossroads. At crossroads go straight through and then immediate right into Ewanfield Ave. Turn right at bottom, then take 1st proper road on left (Corsehill Rd). Continue on Corsehill Rd until you come to lights. From South-Head for Ayr on A70 via Cumnock. As you approach Ayr, A70 meets A77 at Holmston Roundabout. At roundabout go straight on. Take 1st left (Hillfoot Rd). Continue until you come to small roundabout. Go straight over onto Belmont Rd. Continue over level crossing to crossroads, continue straight ahead, take immediate right, Ewanfield Ave. Turn right at end of road, then left (Coreshill Rd) continue to lights.
