The hotel is situated in beautifully landscaped private grounds approximately 13 km south of Edinburgh. Dalkeith Park and Dalkeith House, built in the 18th century, are around 9 km from the hotel. The city's airport is about 16 km away, and can be reached by car within 20 minutes.The hotel, which was built in 1824, offers guests a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere and warm Scottish hospitality. It has a total of 18 rooms and is ideal for holidaymakers and business travellers alike. The oak panelled bar and lounge area provides guests with the opportunity to relax with a drink or, in the colder months, to warm up beside the open log fire. Other facilities provided to guest include conference services, room service and, for a small additional fee, parking for those arriving by car.Traditional in character and charm, although from recent refurbishment brings the best in modern, comfortable lodgings. Away from the hotel, guests will find the delights of Edinburgh and the majesty of the surrounding Midlothian countryside. Close to the hotel also is Glencorse golf course of Penicuik which is an 18 hole moorland/parkland course on the outskirts of Edinburgh.
