A multitude of nearby historical sites compliment the forest: Chingford is home to the Queen Elizabeth Hunting Lodge dating back to the Tudor era; the old market town of Waltham Abbey dates back to 1035. The Iron Age hill fort settlements of Ambresbury Banks and Loughton Camp are even older and both lie within the forest itself. The hotel is on the Central Line tube line (stop: South Woodford). The centre of London is 20 km away and here guests can find theatres, shops and all the capital's well-known attractions. The Docklands lie to the east of London and contain the financial heart of Canary Wharf. From London City Airport (LCY): Distance to County Hotel Woodford is 8 miles, approximately 20 minutes' drive. Getting there. Located within the airport terminal is the Docklands Light Railway station (DLR), which departs regularly for Canning Town, 10 minutes. At Canning Town, visitors should take the Jubilee line to connect to London Underground (Tube) services. From here, visitors should head to the Central Line and get off at South Woodford. Tickets cost 4 GBP for a single, but a one-day travel pass is more economical and practical for multiple journeys. The airport is also served by local buses and London black taxis.
